Newsletter RM-Platform #08 April 2008

Dear [NAME],

The 4th RM platform meeting on April 16th was a great success!
It was organised perfectly by Prodintec, and took place together with a Custom-Fit and Spanish platform meeting on April 15th. As much as [180??] peoples attended from 14 countries with 76% from industry, showing that RM is really getting increasing interest!

The European Commission was represented by Mr Tokamanis, head DG, head DG, demonstrating continued support through FP7.
The four successful FP7 proposals of the 1st RM call were presented to the delegates, together with a range of relevant information about RM in Europe and the platform itself. There was also a networking workshop in which small groups of participants discussed new RM applications in 7 market segments.

All presentations and workshop results can be downloaded here.
Each workshop RM application defined a lead partner and they can be contacted to follow up these initiatives. So the continuation of this workshop results is up to the pro-active attitude of stakeholders and not of the platform management.

The next RM platform meeting will take place on Tuesday September 16th in Slovenia, together with the RM related conference ICAT 2008 (www.rapiman.net), so mark your agenda!

Some platform partners have discussed and prepared contributions from the RM platform to the Manufuture ETP for further cooperation in manufacturing. In particular subjects within the RM platform which have a capability for a wider implementation, such as alternative business models, new design methods and implementation measures and education at SMEs are described. Martin Schäfer will continue to intensify our contacts with Manufuture on this.
In line with this, a new initiative has started within Manufuture to set up an JTI (Joint Technology Initiative) which in the next decade will be a body suggesting and allocating funding for related research areas. In this new approach the basic structure is that the funding for new developments and products comes from three parties: B2B company funding, National funding and EU funding. To be continued!

If you would prefer not to receive this email in the future you can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of the email.

Best regards,

The platform management team.
