This is a real end-use application and an example of how customisation can improve performance of sports people.
Assembly of several SLS parts in combination with Aluminium milled parts
Four adjustable degrees
of freedom incorporated in one single part. Impossible to make it
conventionally, and fully functional.
Current dust extraction add-ons for several sanding
and grinding tools: new customised add-ons are
developed using Rapid Manufacturing Design rules.
Customised Functional
Grippers made for an assembling system.
The award is made through SLS with a special bronze surface coating.
Aesthetic and functional parts, marketing.
Seven different geometries (2 of each one) were made using Selective LaserSintering in one batch.
Customised product for swimming pool cleaning formed of multiple parts built using two RM technologies
Skull defect reconstruction: a large part of skull bone had to be removed by neurosurgeon in order to reduce the pressure on the brain.
Reconstruction was done by using RM.
Laser collimator for space applications
Parts of this configuration are proposed for more effective cooling of
various devices. Complex core and cavity shapes can be cooled uniformly with conformal cooling channels. Employing conformal cooling channels could potentially improve the performance
through the reduction of solidification times.
Materials
of a fusion reactor structure are exposed to impact of high-temperature plasma
and strong neutron irradiation. The basic reactor structure components, which
are subject to high neutron and temperature burden, are the first wall of the
operating chamber and the diverter. This unit is proposed as a functional prototype
of the inner part of the cooling element for the ITER diverter.
Medical application (vaccine sterilization)
Materials scientists are challenged to manufacture products with any
fraction, shape, and size of pores and with
properties tailored to the application. This sample was designed regarding the number, shape, and size of pores and may be successfully used
as a filter in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, oil, etc.

Good overview of what e-manufacturing
mean for the Sirona production centre. It covers:
-
What are
our products for Rapid Manufacturing
-
Why do we
need the DMLS process for RM
-
What kind
of development tasks we worked on
-
What are
the results of the development partnership between EOS and Sirona
-
What
should be improved for the DMLS proces
This unit is an interesting work going on in the industrial and art design field. With SLM technology, the designers' ideas can be directly and quickly
transformed into product that have certain structures and functions.
Cavitation and associated effects such as damage, erosion, vibration and
noise has always been the main obstacle to the development of high performance turbines and pumps. The proposed part can be successfully utilized to suppress (laminarize) chaotic flow in a
thermal convection loop.
Tiny plastic parts make tooling prohibitivly expensive. For RM the RMPD®-mask process takes advantage of smallest size. For small gear wheels the production capacity is more than 150,000 pieces per hour and machine, resulting in high through put and low cost. Planet gear wheel are build up monolithic, no assembly required.
