What is RM (Rapid Manufacturing)? |
RM is making functional end products directly from CAD using Layer
Manufacturing Technologies (LMT). It is in particular interesting for
smaller volumes as it avoids the investments of tooling. This field is
also known by several other names such as direct manufacturing, direct
fabrication or digital manufacturing
In the first years of this millennium, there are hardly any dedicated
RM technologies or machines; RP machines are used for this purpose and
sometimes “upgraded” therefore.
